More details

In the fourth part of the Volokhov cycle, the artist concludes and sums up the dramatic story of Venus and Cupid’s relationship. While the previous parts focused on the act of losing the wings and its emotional consequences, here the artist draws the viewer’s attention to the transformation of the characters and the new reality after a turning point. The composition features a motif of reconciliation with change and acceptance of a new life, now lacking its former lightness and carefreeness.

The fourth part of the cycle is a reflection on the consequences of choices, on growing up, and on the fact that love may require sacrifice and inner discipline. It is also a metaphor for the end of a carefree period of life and the beginning of a new, more conscious stage.
