Why is Otgoo Badam important today?
Otgoo Badam’s art is a unique synthesis of academic realism and expressive painting, inspired by the nature of Mongolia and the traditions of Russian portraiture of the 19th-20th centuries. His portraits, landscapes, and monumental historical canvases are filled with energy, dynamism, and a deep sense of life, reminiscent of the works of Nikolai Fechin and Valentin Serov. The artist is shaping a new national art of Mongolia, discovering diversity in the familiar steppe landscapes and creating works that resonate with collections around the world—from France and Finland to China and Russia.
In 2013, the "Connoisseur" gallery presented the exhibition "Steppe Wind. Otgoo Badam," which showcased about 50 works that revealed the artist’s originality to the Moscow public. In our collection, you will find his paintings created in various genres, each conveying the pulse of life and the vibrancy of Mongolian culture.
